What this site and the game record

Version 2026-09-28

Wynding is a one-person, open-source project run by Rob Ogilvie. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking cookies. This page lists everything that is recorded when you visit wynding.net or play the game, why, how long it is kept, and how to ask for it to be deleted. Questions go to rob@axpr.net.

Every visit: server access logs

The site is served through Amazon CloudFront, which logs every request: your IP address, your browser's User-Agent string, the country and network (ASN) your IP address belongs to, the date and time, the address requested, the referring page, and technical details of the response. These logs are used to keep the site running, to understand how much it is used, and to spot abuse. They are kept indefinitely, in storage shared with Rob's other sites, and are read only by Rob. They are not keyed to anything the game sends, so they cannot be looked up or deleted by a feedback reference.

Every page: Cloudflare Web Analytics

The site's pages load Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and page loads. It sets no cookies and does not track you across sites. Cloudflare processes that data under its own privacy policy.

The feedback form on the home page

If you use the feedback form, what you type (your answers, your message, and your email address only if you give one) is sent through Web3Forms, which forwards it to Rob's email. Web3Forms handles it under its own privacy policy. Your email address is used only to reply to you. Ask and the email is deleted.

Playing the game

The game runs in your browser. It saves your settings, a random identifier for this device, and whether you have answered the feedback survey, in your browser's local storage. None of that is sent anywhere, and clearing your browser's site data removes it.

At the end of a run you can copy or save that run's data (the moves you made, not anything about you) to paste into a bug report. That only happens when you press the button, and it goes only where you put it.

The in-game feedback survey

This survey is not switched on yet. This section describes it for when it is.

After a run, the game may offer an optional survey. Nothing is sent unless you press Send. Pressing Send sends:

No name, account, device identifier, settings or accessibility options are sent. Please do not type personal details into the free-text answer; if you do, they are treated the same way as the rest of it.

Survey submissions are used to find bugs and balance the game. Free text is read by a person before it is counted or summarised anywhere. Submissions are kept for up to 90 days and then deleted, and they are not backed up anywhere else.

To have a submission deleted, email rob@axpr.net with the reference the game showed you when you pressed Send. Everything stored under that reference is deleted. The reference is not stored on your device and cannot be recovered later, so write it down if you might want this. Anything already folded into a count or summary cannot be separated back out.

Why this is allowed

The access logs and analytics are needed to run and improve the site. Survey answers and form messages are sent only when you choose to send them. For those purposes the data collected is kept small, is not used to profile you, and is not sold or shared beyond the services named above.

Changes to this notice

When this notice changes, its version above changes too, and every survey submission records which version was in force when it was sent.
